Gerry Lord

Born in Sydney, NSW 1943 Both parents were English immigrants, who met and married in Australia, I have a brother Greg who is 3 years older.

After my mum passed away we went to live on a 6,500 acre sheep farm near Gundagai.

Schooling – Primary Jugiong Public School, secondary at St Gregory’s Campbelltown boarding school.

Worked in the hospitality industry, both in Australia, America and Asia Pacific Region.

Met an Irish girl Mary Doherty at TC’s Sound Lounge in August 1963 and we married in November 1963.

We had seven beautiful children first was born Sept 1964 -Caroline, John, Paul, David, Mark, Leanne & Simone.

We were married on the 22nd November 1963.

Mary Lord (nee Doherty)

Born in a village called Newtowncunningham which is located in County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland (Eiré).

The family migrated to Australia in 1956 aboard the SS Iberia, arrived in Sydney on Australia Day 1956, travelled by train to Brisbane and spent a short time at Yungaba Immigration Centre, Kangaroo Point, before buying a house at Stafford in Brisbane.

Mary is the oldest of ten children of which six were born in Eiré and four in Australia. 

Mary attended St Anthony’s primary and then Mt Alvernia for her secondary education.

She worked as a nurse at in aged care.
